Two New Jersey Wing Cadets Earn Private Pilot Certificates
JOINT BASE MCGUIRE–DIX–LAKEHURST, N.J. (Aug. 16, 2026) — Two New Jersey Wing Civil Air Patrol cadets have earned their private pilot certificates through the Cadet Wings program, marking significant milestones in their aviation journeys and adding to the growing number of New Jersey cadets who have achieved their pilot certificates through the program.
Nathaniel Hawkins (#535), of the Maj. Thomas B. McGuire Jr. Composite Squadron, and Harasses Singh (#517), of Twin Pine Composite Squadron, are the latest New Jersey Wing cadets to graduate from Cadet Wings. Hawkins completed the program Aug. 9, while Singh earned his certificate July 15, according to Civil Air Patrol National Headquarters.
Cadet Wings is a Civil Air Patrol program designed to help eligible cadets pursue flight training and earn their private pilot certificates. The program provides financial assistance and a structured pathway for cadets who demonstrate a commitment to aviation and meet the program’s requirements.
“Earning a private pilot certificate is a tremendous accomplishment, and Nathaniel and Harasses should be extremely proud of what they have achieved,” said Col. Amy Myzie, commander of the New Jersey Wing. “Their success reflects not only their dedication to aviation, but also the discipline, persistence and leadership skills they have developed as Civil Air Patrol cadets. We are proud to see them join the growing ranks of New Jersey Wing cadets who have turned their passion for aviation into a significant achievement.”
The Cadet Wings program represents one of Civil Air Patrol’s most significant opportunities for cadets interested in aviation, providing them with the resources and support needed to pursue flight training and earn a Federal Aviation Administration private pilot certificate.
Hawkins and Singh join other New Jersey Wing cadets including C/1st Lt Jasleen Kaur (#492) and C/2d Lt Matthew Vyas (#482) who have completed Cadet Wings in recent years. Their accomplishments demonstrate the opportunities available to Civil Air Patrol cadets who are interested in aerospace and willing to pursue their goals with determination and commitment.
The achievement also reflects Civil Air Patrol’s broader commitment to developing the next generation of aviation leaders by giving cadets hands-on opportunities to explore aviation and pursue professional and personal goals in the field.
For Hawkins and Singh, earning their private pilot certificates is both the culmination of their Cadet Wings training and the beginning of new opportunities in aviation.
